Is this service right for me?

For executives preparing for a defined market, rather than applying for one particular vacancy. More...
This service is for senior executives who need a stronger CV for a defined role category or sector, but are not yet applying for one particular vacancy.
It supports broader market preparation. It is suitable when you want to prepare for recruiter approaches, networking conversations, speculative opportunities or a broader search across similar appointments.

We begin by defining the target. We clarify the level, type and sector of role you are targeting. I then examine your career history, achievements, leadership scope and specialist strengths, selecting the evidence most likely to matter across that part of the market.

The result is an adaptable executive CV. It establishes your level, explains your value and provides a stronger foundation for future applications.

It is not a universal submission document. It is not intended to be submitted unchanged for every vacancy. Specific senior appointments will usually require further alignment to the employer, role and selection process.

What does general positioning mean?

Your CV is shaped around a role category, level and sector, rather than one named employer. More...
General positioning means shaping your CV for a defined market, rather than one named vacancy.
A general CV still needs direction. It cannot simply present your career history and leave recruiters or employers to decide where you might fit.

We define the relevant market. We identify the broad role category, level, sector and types of organisation you are likely to target.

Your evidence is selected against common requirements. Your experience and achievements are weighted against the capabilities, experience and results commonly sought for those appointments.

The CV remains focused but flexible. This gives it greater direction while preserving enough flexibility for recruiter conversations, direct approaches and several related opportunities.

Can I use this CV for several applications?

Yes, as a basic foundation, but important applications still need role-specific alignment. More...
Yes, but it should be treated as a basic foundation rather than a universal submission document.
It can support related opportunities. The CV will be designed around the common requirements of your target role category or sector. This makes it suitable for market approaches, recruiter discussions and opportunities with broadly similar requirements.

Senior appointments are rarely identical. Employers will apply different priorities, selection criteria, risks and expectations, even when job titles appear similar.

Important applications require further alignment. Before submitting the CV for a particular vacancy, you may need to adjust the profile, evidence, terminology and achievement emphasis.

A bespoke application is safer. For important or highly competitive roles, a bespoke application is always the safer approach.

When would I need a role-specific package instead?

A named vacancy, formal criteria or complex selection process usually requires more focused support. More...
You should consider a role-specific service when you are applying for a named vacancy with a job description, recruiter brief, person specification or defined selection process.
A general CV cannot answer one employer’s full brief. It cannot fully address the needs of one organisation, the reason for the appointment or the particular concerns of the people deciding who progresses.

The role-aligned package suits a defined vacancy. It is more appropriate when the application requires a CV and cover letter written around a specific role.

The criteria-led package suits formal requirements. It is more appropriate when the employer requires responses to essential criteria, competencies, capabilities or a detailed person specification.

Complex appointments may need broader support. If the application is complex, senior, public-sector, board-level or likely to involve several gatekeepers, the more comprehensive package may provide a stronger basis for competition.

What is included in this service?

Direct consultation, market analysis, executive CV development, revisions and an ATS-compatible final document. More...
The service includes direct consultation, analysis of your target market, review of your existing career material, executive CV development and revisions.
Your target. We clarify your target role level, role category and sector.

Your leadership scope. We establish the scale and scope of your leadership responsibilities.

Your strongest evidence. We identify the achievements and decisions that provide the clearest evidence of value.

Your specialist and transferable strengths. We examine the capabilities that distinguish you and may travel across related roles or sectors.

Potential concerns. We consider any career issues, changes or perceived risks that may need careful framing.

Positioning and language. We determine the language and positioning most likely to make sense to recruiters and senior decision-makers.

You work directly with me. I personally undertake the questioning, judgement, writing and revisions. The work is not passed to a junior writer, contractor or automated production process.

Final delivery. The completed CV will be supplied in a clear, professionally presented and ATS-compatible format.

What will you need from me?

Your existing CV, target direction and enough evidence to establish your achievements and responsibilities. More...
I will usually need your current CV, LinkedIn profile if relevant, details of the roles or sectors you are considering and any supporting information that helps establish your achievements and responsibilities.
We will examine your career direction. Our discussion will explore your target roles, leadership scope, commercial or organisational impact and specialist knowledge.

We will identify distinguishing evidence. The aim is to establish what separates you from other credible candidates targeting similar appointments.

You do not need to arrive with polished material. You do not need perfectly written achievements or a complete account of every result.

I will ask the questions needed. Part of my role is to recover missing context, test claims and identify evidence that may currently be buried or overlooked.

The process is collaborative. The quality of the CV depends upon the quality of the evidence available, so this is more than a simple rewrite.

  • Clarify the Objective

We define the level, role category, sector and types of organisation you are targeting. This gives the CV a clear direction without tying it to one particular vacancy.
  • Examine the Evidence

I review your existing CV and supporting material to identify strong evidence, missing context, stale positioning, unsupported claims and achievements that may be buried beneath routine responsibilities.
  • Define the Positioning

I determine the central proposition, which evidence should lead, what should be reduced or removed, and how your specialist strengths and transferable value should be presented.
  • Create the CV

I develop the first draft around your leadership level and the capabilities, experience and achievements commonly sought across your target market.
  • Test and Refine

We correct factual details, strengthen weak evidence and refine the language until the CV is clear, credible in your voice and ready to support recruiter discussions and relevant opportunities.
